Women entrepreneurs currently contribute about $316 billion to African economic growth which is equivalent to about 13% of the continent’s GDP, but this is significantly low compared to potentially contributing $12 trillion. While Africa has the highest number of women entrepreneurs in the world, African Women-led startups have faced challenges which have significantly limited their growth and ability to drive economic growth. African Development Bank (AfDB) has emphasised that women-led startups have immense economic potential and are key drivers of economic growth in Africa.
